William L. Swinson Jr.

William L. "Billy" Swinson Jr., a beacon of faith and love, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, in Plant City, FL, at the age of 72. Born on June 30, 1952, in Tampa, FL, Billy was a man whose gentle spirit and loving nature left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Billy grew up in a close-knit family and was predeceased by his parents, William L. Swinson Sr. and Barbara J. Swinson, as well as his brother Jimmy Swinson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Barbara Swinson, and their loving children: Casey (Bill) Knicely, Melissa (Barry) Hamel, Allison (Jeff) Kidd, and B.J. (Jenni) Swinson. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. Billy also leaves behind his caring brother, Bobby (Debbie) Swinson, and sister, Barbara Ann (Dennis) Miller, along with a community of friends and relatives who will miss him dearly.

A man of deep faith, Billy was a long-standing member of the New Home Baptist Church, where he lived out his beliefs with a gentle spirit and loving heart. His commitment to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life and served as an inspiration to all who knew him.

An avid sports fan, Billy's enthusiasm for the Florida Gators was matched only by his passion for outdoor activities. He found great pleasure in golfing, fishing, hunting, and playing softball and bowling with friends and family. These pastimes were more than hobbies; they were the avenues through which Billy formed lasting friendships and cherished memories.

Billy's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of family bonds. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched—they must be felt with the heart." Billy touched hearts with his unwavering faith and love.

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His gentle soul and warm smile will continue to inspire and guide us.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at New Home Baptist Church in Lakeland, FL.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM.
Burial will follow at New Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Lakeland, FL.
