Walter Stanaland Obituary

Walter Thomas "Tom" Stanaland, a cherished father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, in Lake City, Florida, at the age of 77. Born on January 24, 1948, in Plant City, Florida, to the late James William Stanaland and Dorothy L. Colding, Tom grew up with a deep appreciation for the land and the community that raised him.

Tom honorably served his country in the United States Navy, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and pride that he carried throughout his days. After his military service, he returned to his roots in Florida, where he found joy and purpose in farming. Tom's love for raising dairy cattle and beef was more than a profession; it was a passion that allowed him to connect with the earth and provide for his family.

Those who knew Tom would describe him as a loving and kind man, always ready with a helping hand or a word of encouragement. His gentle spirit and generous heart left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Tom's legacy is carried on by his beloved children: Tom Stanaland, James Stanaland and his wife Sandra, Bonnie Hall, and Dorothy Jean Stanaland. He was a guiding light in their lives and a role model of integrity and compassion.

Tom's siblings, Linda Wetherington and Roy Stanaland, will fondly remember their brother for his unwavering support and the countless memories they shared. His two grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, will miss their grandfather's warmth and the wisdom he imparted during their cherished moments together.

Throughout his life, Tom was a pillar of strength for his family and a friend to all. His absence will be deeply felt, but the love and lessons he shared will continue to resonate with those who were fortunate enough to know him.

As we say goodbye to Walter Thomas "Tom" Stanaland, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by dedication to family, service to country, and a profound connection to the land he so dearly loved. His spirit will forever remain in the fields he tended, in the laughter of his children, and in the hearts of all who were touched by his kindness. Tom's journey on this earth has come to a restful end, but his story will be told for generations to come, a testament to a life of love and kindness.
