Vonda Lee Wood, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024, in Lakeland, Florida, at the age of 82. Born on July 29, 1941, in Cullman, Alabama, Vonda's life was a testament to the strength and devotion of a woman who cherished her family and her faith above all else.
Vonda was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Daniel Boston Wood, her parents, Mettie Ithoma (Needham) Duke and James Henry Amos Duke, her sister Wynell Holloway, and her brother Virgil Lee Duke. She is survived by her loving daughters, Debby Eulo and Tammie Wood, her adoring sister Mozell Thomas, her six grandchildren, Justin (Sarah), Kandice, Stephanie (Dustin), Michael, Amanda (James), and Ciera (Josh), and her eleven great-grandchildren, Logan (Taryn), Mikalyn, Autumn, Ava, Conner, Elyjah, Nora, Wyatt, Ellie, Gwendalin, and Isabella. The family joyfully anticipates the arrival of her first great-great-grandchild, Baby Eulo.
Vonda was a member of Shilo Baptist Church in Plant City, Florida and raised her daughters within the nurturing community of Crystal Springs Baptist Church, where she served for many years with love and devotion, including driving the church bus and leading the Girls Auxiliary (GA's).
Her interests reflected the beauty and care she brought to every aspect of her life. Vonda loved working in her flower bed, caring for her roses, and tending to her fish pond. She and Dan created many fond memories at their home in Floral City, fondly known as "The River," where weekends were spent surrounded by the laughter and love of family and friends.
Vonda was a strong and spirited woman who kept her family united through the years. As a young mother, she grew up alongside her daughters, who she affectionately called, "her girls." She was the matriarch of her family on which her loving, faithful, and spirited personality, left an indelible mark. She will be sorely missed.
Friends and family will be be received Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 10:30 am at Haught Funeral Home, 708 W. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd, Plant City, Florida, 33563. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 am, officiated by Pastor, Joe Bowles. A graveside service will follow where Vonda will be laid to rest beside her husband Dan in Mt. Enon Cemetery. Funeral services were entrusted to Haught Funeral Home.
