Verda Abercrombie Obituary

Verda Louise Abercrombie, a beacon of unwavering faith and boundless love, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, at the age of 82, in Plant City, Florida. Born on January 26, 1943, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Jessie and Evelyn Croney, Verda's life was a testament to the power of devotion—to her family, her work, and her God.

Verda's journey through life was marked by her enduring love and the cherished memories she created with her beloved husband, the late James T. Abercrombie. Together, they built a family foundation that would stand the test of time. Although she was predeceased by her husband, her siblings Thurman and Carl Croney and Barbara Sizemore, and her grandson David Hardin, Verda's legacy continues through her loving children: Kathy Hardin, Wayne (Adelyn) Abercrombie, Patricia (Michael) Carr, Wesley Abercrombie, and Stanley (Sherry) Abercrombie. Her life was further enriched by her siblings Sharon Croney and Linda Kirby, her eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.

For 23 years, Verda served as a dedicated nursery worker with the City of Plant City, where her nurturing spirit and green thumb helped beautify the community she so dearly loved. Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional life, as she was an active member and attendee of Faith Lighthouse Church of God and New Hope Church, and also attended Turkey Creek Baptist Church. Her unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and triumphs.

Verda's interests were a reflection of her deep religious convictions and her love for gospel music. She found great joy in attending gospel sings, where she could be found clapping along and singing praises with a heart full of devotion. Her passion for the church was matched only by her dedication to her family, whom she supported with a selfless and loving heart.

Those who knew Verda will remember her as a woman of great character—loving, selfless, and faith-filled. She was the embodiment of charity, always putting others before herself and giving generously without expecting anything in return. Her presence was a comforting constant in the lives of those she touched, and her guidance was sought after by many who were drawn to her wisdom and kindness.

Verda's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of love, faith, and family. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories passed down through the generations, in the lessons she taught, and in the love she shared so freely. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those she has left behind, as they walk the path of life with her teachings in their hearts.

As we bid farewell to Verda Louise Abercrombie, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a soul that has undoubtedly found its eternal rest in the loving embrace of the Creator. Her influence will forever be felt, and her memory will continue to be a source of comfort and strength to all who were blessed to know her.

Verda's life will be honored and remembered in a service that reflects the richness of her faith and the depth of her love. As we gather to commemorate her remarkable life, we will hold close the memories and the love that she has left behind, a legacy that will endure for generations to come.
