Thomas VanBrunt Jr., a treasured soul, bid farewell to this world on January 28, 2024, the very day he marked his 77th year of a life well-lived. Born in 1947 in the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Thomas carried the spirit of his beloved city throughout his life, before finding peace in Plant City, Florida, where he passed away surrounded by the love and memories he so dearly cherished.

Thomas's journey through life was marked by dedication and service. He proudly wore the uniform as a U.S. Navy Veteran, a testament to his love for his country. Following his military service, he continued a life of public service as a Philadelphia police officer, where for 32 years he stood as a pillar of strength and protection in his community. His commitment to the badge was unwavering, and his retirement was celebrated by all who had the honor of working alongside him.

At home, Thomas was a beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Rosemary Talbot VanBrunt, his second wife and the stepmother to his children, Susan VanBrunt, and his caring sister, Linda VanBrunt. His legacy lives on through his children - Tina Laughlin, Jill VanBrunt, Tommy VanBrunt III, Tom Hickey, and Chris Hickey - and his devoted brothers, Michael and Joseph VanBrunt. His nine grandchildren, who filled his days with laughter and joy, will carry forward the stories and lessons he imparted.

Thomas's passion for life extended beyond his service; he was a man of many interests. A lover of movies, he could often be found quoting his favorite lines and sharing his extensive knowledge of film history. His was a collection that spanned genres and eras, each piece chosen with care and displayed with pride. Collecting was not just a hobby for Thomas; it was a way of connecting with others, of sharing stories and creating bonds that lasted a lifetime. As we remember Thomas, we reflect on his kind heart, his unwavering integrity, and the warmth of his smile that could light up any room.
