Susanne M Long

Susanne M. Long, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Plant City, Florida on October 7, 2023. Born on January 29, 1956, in San Diego, California, Susanne was a woman of remarkable wisdom, boundless love, and adventurous spirit.

She was the devoted wife of Paul Long for 20 cherished years, and a proud mother to Carl Ley, Michael Ley, Bryan Ley and his wife Emily, Andrea Ley and her husband Michael, Paul E. Long Jr. and his wife Sabrina, and Blake A. Long and his wife Nicole. Susanne was also the loving sister of Kim Arlene Wurm and Tammy Jean Morgan. She was predeceased by her brothers Charles Westbrook, Tony Chandler, and Jackson Morgan. Her legacy will continue to flourish through her 18 adoring grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye.

Susanne's professional journey was marked by a successful career with USAA Insurance, where she served as a claims adjuster and fraud investigator, demonstrating her sharp mind and unwavering commitment to justice. She also took great pride in her role as an Avon representative, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and love for connecting with others.

A woman of deep faith, Susanne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She found joy in her faith community and drew strength from her spiritual beliefs. Her love for her grandchildren was unparalleled, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

The beach held a special place in Susanne's heart. She reveled in the serenity of the ocean waves and the warmth of the sun on her skin. An avid traveler, she loved exploring new places and cultures, often via cruising. As Mark Twain once said, "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness," and Susanne wholeheartedly embraced this ethos.

In her passing, we remember Susanne not only for her accomplishments but also for the vibrant and loving person she was. Her wisdom guided those around her, her love warmed their hearts, and her adventurous spirit inspired them to seek joy and beauty in the world. Her memory will forever be a beacon of light to all who were fortunate to know her.

As we mourn the loss of Susanne, we also celebrate her life and the indelible impact she left on her loved ones and community. Her spirit will live on through the stories shared, the lessons passed down, and the love she instilled in all of us. May her soul rest in eternal peace

Friends and family will be received Friday, October 13, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Haught Funeral Home, 708 W. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd Plant City, FL 33563. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM.
