Steve E. Mitchell, passed away on January 20, 2024, at the age of 71, in Brandon, FL. Born on December 21, 1952, in Plant City, FL, Steve was the youngest of five children born to the late Edgar and Reather (Barber) Mitchell.
Steve was a loving and generous man. For 33 years, he shared his life with his companion and partner, Susan Paycer. Together, they built a world full of shared interests and adventures. Steve was father to his only son, Steve Mitchell, and his wife, Kathy, he was a grandfather to Randy, Cindy, Austin, Lillian, and Sarah, and a great-grandfather to Marley.
Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Mitchell Williams. His siblings, Betty Mitchell Highlander, Linda Mitchell Futch (Fred), and Vernon (Linda) Mitchell, will remember Steve as the baby brother who brought laughter and warmth to each family gathering. Steve thoroughly enjoyed attending annual family reunions hosted by his sister Linda, where he was particularly fond of the desserts.
Steve was a man of many talents and interests. He worked a maintenance worker and was all around jack of all trades. He was very handy and had the ability to fix just about anything. He also regularly attended Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, alongside Susan.
Steve loved rock, country, and blues, but his passion for cars and motorcycles was the defining aspect of his life. Steve found joy in the roar of engines at the races in Daytona, the excitement of drag strips, and the thrill of Monster truck shows all with Susan by his side.
Steve was a loving, considerate, and generous man, always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire those he left behind. He was a man who knew the value of hard work, the joy of a good song, and the warmth of a family's embrace. And let's not forget those desserts! His legacy is one of kindness and a commitment to those he held dear.
