Shirley Henderson, born on April 27, 1947, in Plant City, Florida, passed away on August 27, 2026, in the same beloved community she called home throughout her life.
Shirley was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Sasser and Hattie Mae Wise. She was also preceded in death by her husband, "Kenny" Henderson, as well as her children, Richard and her first born infant. She was preceded in death by her siblings as well. Though she experienced many losses in her lifetime, she remained steadfast in her faith and continued to live with courage and
dignity. Her memory will live on through family and friend's who survive her.
Shirley devoted a meaningful part of her working life to the Hillsborough County school system, where she served as a cook at Cork Elementary. In that role, she helped nourish countless
children and staff members with care and consistency. Her work was more than a job, because it was an expression of her nurturing nature and her desire to serve others.
Her faith was central to her life, and she was deeply involved in church throughout the years. Shirley sang in the choir at Harmony Baptist Church, where her amazing voice was a gift that touched many hearts. She found joy in worship and fellowship, and her presence in the church family was a blessing to those around her. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived, the way she spoke, and the way she cared for others.
Shirley Henderson leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and perseverance that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Though she is no longer present in body, her spirit remains in the memories, prayers, and love of her family and friends.
