Roy Southerland Obituary

Roy "Stopper" Southerland, age 67, passed away on September 2, 2021.
He was the son of the late Roy and Gussie Brantley Southerland.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Teresa Southerland, children, R.J. (Cheryl) Southerland, Lisa Southerland Shirah, siblings, Buddy (Sue) Southerland, Delane (Barbara) Southerland, Mary Ann Stalvey, grandchildren, Shelby Southerland, Madalynn Shirah, Grace Shirah. Roy was also preceded in death by his brothers: William and Richard Southerland.
Roy (aka "Stopper") retired after thirty-five years of service from the City of Lakeland Parks and Recreation Department where he was a Foreman II. Roy was the caretaker and Sexton for Springhead Cemetery. He has been an active member and Deacon of Graceway (formerly Springhead Baptist Church) for over 45 years. He enjoyed farming, gardening & mowing. He also enjoyed cooking/barbecuing and fellowship with friends and family. He was a lifelong resident of his current home in Springhead. The family will receive friends, Thursday September 9, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00am at Graceway (formerly Springhead Baptist). Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM
