Robert H. Jorgensen

Robert H. Jorgensen, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2024, at the age of 93 in Lakeland, Florida. Born on February 7, 1931, in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Henry A. Jorgensen and Lillian Rowe, Robert's life was marked by dedication to his family, his service to the country, and his commitment to education and community.

Robert's formative years in Connecticut laid the foundation for a life characterized by resilience and a strong sense of duty. After completing his undergraduate studies, he honorably served his country in the Korean War as a member of the United States Army. Following his military service, Robert furthered his education by obtaining a master's degree, which propelled him into a fulfilling career in education.

For many years, Robert worked at Taconic Hills Central School in New York, where he was known for his unwavering support of his students and colleagues. His passion for education extended beyond the classroom, as he became actively involved in the parish communities of St. Clements & Saint Bridgets in Copake Falls, New York. His guidance and leadership touched many lives, leaving a legacy of inspiration and kindness.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Robert was a pillar of his community. He served as the chairman of the Copake, NY, Park and Recreation Commission, where he was instrumental in fostering a sense of community through the development and enhancement of local parks and recreational programs. His efforts brought joy and a sense of belonging to countless individuals and families.

Robert was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary E. Jorgensen, and his son, Paul Jorgensen. He is survived by his devoted children, Richard Jorgensen, Eric Jorgensen, Karen Jorgensen, and Ann Schnell. His legacy continues through his three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who will remember him for his wisdom, his gentle spirit, and his enduring love.

Robert's life was a testament to the values he held dear: family, service, and community. Those who knew him will recall his warm smile, his thoughtful advice, and his genuine interest in the well-being of others. His presence was a comfort and a steady force in the lives of his loved, and his memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
