Rickey Ray Mullis, born on the 7th of July, 1956, in Charlotte, NC, passed away on the 10th of May, 2024, in Dover, FL. A beloved brother, uncle and friend, Rickey was a man defined by his kindness and handy nature.
Rickey spent his formative years under the roof of the North Side Baptist Church in Charlotte North Carolina, absorbing values that would guide him through a life full of love and service. He built a respected career in construction for heavy equipment, where he applied his handiness to contribute meaningfully to the world around him.
He cherished his family deeply and was preceded in passing by his father Floyd M. Mullis, mother Clara Carolyn Jordan, and brothers Bobby Dale, Jimmy Charles (Sue), and Boyce Nelson (Sonja) Mullis. Keeping his memory alive are his proud sister, Joyce (Jeff) Mullis Alverson, and his loving nieces Tammy Mullis, Carol (Tod) Rasar, Landa Mullis, his nephew Andrew Charles, and he was preceded in death by his nephew Ray Mullis.
Beyond work, Rickey was passionate about his hobbies. He found peace in fishing and the ocean, delight in building cars, and fulfillment in his talented boat repair work. His life was a testament to Benjamin Franklin's words, "Well done is better than well said," applying his handiness to actions that spoke louder than words.
Our dear Rickey will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered for his kindness and skill, as a man whose legacy will continue to guide and inspire us all.
Services will be held privately by the family.
