Ray Gibson Obituary

Ray Gibson, a man known for his loving heart, wisdom, and generosity, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, in Lakeland, Florida. Born on November 28, 1941, in Tampa, Florida, Ray's presence brought light and warmth to the lives of all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose legacy of kindness and strength will live on through his family and the many lives he touched.

Ray's journey began as the cherished son of the late John Gibson and Eva Bolden. In his youth, he grew up alongside his sisters, Ruth Huntsman and Connie Myers, forming unbreakable bonds and creating memories that would last a lifetime. He loved his daughter Stephanie Fincher (Wallace Sullivan) more than life itself. The joy in Ray's life multiplied with the birth of his three grandchildren; Krysta Whitehead, Kelly Walker and Kaitlynne Fincher and three great-grandchildren; D.J. Howard, Kris Howard and Laila Walker, who were the apples of his eye.

A patriot at heart, Ray served his country with honor in the United States Navy. His dedication to his nation was mirrored in his professional life, where he applied his skills as a fabricator in steel. His hands crafted not only structures of metal but also a community of respect and camaraderie among his colleagues and friends. Ray's commitment to his faith was evident to all who knew him, as he was a steadfast attendee of Springhead Baptist Church, where he found solace, strength, and fellowship.

Ray's wisdom was a guiding light for many, always available to lend an ear or share advice with a gentle voice and a thoughtful word. His generosity knew no bounds, as he gave freely of his time, resources, and love, never asking for anything in return. Those who had the privilege of knowing Ray experienced his profound ability to love unconditionally, a quality that defined his very essence.

Though the loss of Ray is deeply felt, his family takes comfort in the knowledge that he lived a full life, rich with love and guided by faith. Ray's story is one of a life well-lived, a life that will continue to inspire and guide his loved ones now and in the years to come.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Ray Gibson's memory will be cherished and honored by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He has left an indelible mark on this world, and his spirit will forever be a beacon of love, wisdom, and generosity. Services will be held privately.
