Pat Pogue Obituary

Pat Pogue was born on January 8, 1940, in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, and passed away on May 10, 2026, in Lakeland, Florida. She lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her church, and the community she proudly called home.
Pat was the daughter of the late Era Goodman and the late Sidney Stockard Johnson. She carried with her the values of hard work, kindness, and faith that shaped her life from an early age. Those who knew her will remember a woman who was loving, thoughtful, and generous in all that she did. She had a warm presence and a sincere spirit that made others feel welcomed and cared for.
Family was central to Pat's life. She is survived by her children, James Pogue Jr., Cydney Porter, and Dawn Pogue. She also leaves behind four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom brought her great joy and pride. The bonds she shared with her family were strong and enduring, and her love for them was evident in the way she lived each day. Her family will forever cherish the memories, guidance, and steady support she provided throughout her life.
Pat was deeply rooted in the community of Plant City, Florida, where she made a lasting impact through her service and involvement. She was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Plant City, where she served on the board of directors. Her commitment to the church reflected her devotion to faith and fellowship, and she was respected for the time, care, and leadership she offered to others. She found purpose in serving alongside her church family and remained active in the life of the congregation.
Her involvement in Plant City extended well beyond the church. Pat was very active in the city of Plant City and was known as someone who truly loved her town. She took pride in being a part of the community and gave generously of her time and energy. One of the many honors she received was serving as Grand Marshal of the Plant City Strawberry Festival Youth Parade, a role that reflected the admiration and appreciation she earned from those around her. She embraced that recognition with grace, humility, and pride in the city she loved so dearly.
Pat also dedicated many years of her working life to Publix, where she later retired. Her career was another example of her steady commitment and dependable nature. She approached her work with the same kindness and responsibility that she showed in every part of her life. Her coworkers and acquaintances knew her as a woman of integrity and warmth, someone who carried herself with dignity and care.
Mrs. Pogue was Plant City in every sense of the word. She was part of its heart, its spirit, and its story. Her love for the town was deep and genuine, and she helped make it a better place through her presence, service, and example. She will be remembered not only for what she did, but for who she was. Pat lived with compassion, gave freely of herself, and left behind a legacy of faith, family, and community devotion.
Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer physically present, the influence of her life remains strong in the family she nurtured, the church she served, and the community she cherished. Pat Pogue will be remembered with love and gratitude for a life well lived and for the many ways she touched the lives of others.
