Nickie Islam Obituary

Nickie Adam Islam, a cherished husband, devoted father, beloved brother, proud army veteran, and adored grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, in Plant City, Florida. Born on November 30, 1957, Nick's zest for life and love for his family defined his 68 years.

A true family man, Nick's greatest joy was found in the company of his loving wife, Sharon Islam, whom he married in 1993. Together, they navigated the seas of life, embarking on countless cruises that spoke to their shared love of adventure and romance. Nick's legacy continues through his children, Aimee Johnson (married to Darrell), Lisa Albritton (married to Ricky), Stephanie Islam (partnered with Percy), Joey McQueen, Nick Islam, and Michael Islam. His life was further enriched by the laughter and love of many grandchildren, though he bore the heartache of saying goodbye to his beloved grandchild, Isabella Albritton.

Nick's life was one of service and skill. He spent many years as a mechanic, a vocation that allowed him to indulge his passion for working on cars. His hands were rarely clean, always tinkering, fixing, and improving, much to the benefit of those who knew him and relied on his expertise. Nick's pride in his country was evident in his status as a very proud army vet, a period of his life that shaped him in profound ways and instilled in him values of duty and honor that he carried throughout his life.

The call of the ocean was one that Nick could not ignore. Deep sea fishing was more than a hobby; it was a testament to his love for nature's wonders and the thrill of the catch. Yet, above all, it was the simple, irreplaceable pleasure of spending time with his family that Nick valued most. Whether it was a Sunday dinner, a backyard barbecue, or a quiet afternoon, these moments were the ones he treasured above all.

Nick's departure leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends, yet they take comfort in the abundance of memories they have shared. His laughter, his stories, and his unwavering commitment to those he loved will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His family also takes comfort in knowing he is resting in the arms of Jesus with no pain or sadness.

Nick's life was a tapestry of love, service, and joy. As his family and friends bid him farewell, they celebrate the man who gave them so much and asked for so little in return. His spirit will continue to guide and inspire them, just as the North Star guides a ship at sea. Nick's journey on this earth has ended, but his legacy will sail on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Services will be held privately by the family.
