Michael Ray Pitts, born on May 18, 1980, in Plant City, Florida, passed away on April 18, 2026, in the same community he called home throughout his life.
He was a loving son, devoted father, cherished fiancé, and treasured brother whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to those around him. Michael lived his life with a generous spirit and a strong work ethic, and he was known by family and friends as someone who could always be counted on. He carried himself with kindness, practical skill, and a sense of humor that often made him the life of the room. Those who knew him best will remember his loving nature and the way he made everyday moments feel meaningful.
Michael was born and raised in Plant City, where he built deep roots and lasting relationships. He was the son of Diana and Charles Pitts and the grandson of Gevena Pitts, John Lee Pitts, Ruth Thomas, and Ray Thomas. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Lee Pitts and Ray Thomas, and his grandmother Ruth Thomas. He is survived by his beloved fiancé, Stephanie Goodwin, and his children, Logan, Aubrey, Landon, Autumn, and Levi, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his sister, Stephanie Sheffield, and her husband, James, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever hold his memory close.
Michael worked as a self-employed contractor, a role that suited both his dependable nature and his hands-on abilities. He took pride in his work and was known for being handy, resourceful, and willing to tackle whatever needed to be done. His strong work ethic reflected the values he carried throughout his life, and he approached both his work and his family with the same steady commitment. He earned the respect of those around him not only through what he did, but through the way he did it, with honesty, determination, and care.
Above all else, Michael loved his children and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. Being with Logan, Aubrey, Landon, Autumn, and Levi brought him great joy, and his love for them was evident in all that he did. He found happiness in the simple things, especially fishing, watching football, and cheering for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. These interests were part of the rhythm of his life, and they often created memories shared with family and friends. Whether he was spending time outdoors, following a game, or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, Michael had a way of making the moment feel special.
Michael will be remembered for his loving heart, his practical talents, and the laughter he brought into the lives of others. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and his easygoing presence left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His family and friends will remember his loyalty, his strength, and the genuine affection he showed so freely. Though his time on earth was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain a lasting source of comfort to those who mourn his passing.
His life was a testament to the importance of family, hard work, and enjoying the moments that matter most. Michael's memory will live on in the hearts of his children, his fiancée, his parents, his sister, and all who loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and steadfast presence that will not be forgotten.
