Maureen Furney Helms, affectionately known as Maureen to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in Plant City, Florida. Born on April 9, 1943, Maureen's life was a testament to the power of kindness, love, and selflessness. Her warm spirit and generous heart left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Maureen's life was one of devotion and joy. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was casting a line into the water on a quiet morning, unraveling the mysteries of a crime movie, or losing herself in the pages of a good book. Her love for crossword puzzles was matched only by her talent in the kitchen, where she cooked up not just meals but memories that her family will cherish forever. Maureen was also an avid football fan, cheering with equal fervor for her favorite college teams and professional players.

Her love extended beyond her hobbies to the very core of her being. Maureen was the epitome of kindness, always putting others before herself. Her loving nature was the glue that held her family together, and her selflessness was a beacon of light for friends and community members alike.

Maureen's legacy is carried on by her son, Garner Helms, and her adored grandchildren, Brett and Ashley Helms, who will continue to live out the values she instilled in them. Her presence will be profoundly missed at family gatherings, where her laughter and stories were a staple.

Though she now joins her beloved son Kenneth Helms, and her siblings Tommy Furney, Grady Furney, Ronnie Furney, and Annette Bailey, who preceded her in death, the impact of Maureen's love and kindness will never fade. Her memory will live on in the hearts of the many other family members and friends who had the privilege of knowing her.
