Matthew Fletcher Obituary

Matthew Daniel Fletcher, affectionately known as M.D. to his friends and family, passed away on August 14, 2024, in his hometown of Plant City, FL, where he was also born on June 2, 1939. M.D.'s life was a testament to the enduring power of love and faith, which he cultivated throughout his 85 years.

M.D. was a devoted husband to his late wife, Betty Fletcher, and a loving father to his daughters, Daphne Blanton and Michele (Jeff) Abraham. Though his heart ached from the loss of his grandson Tyler Abraham, he found comfort in the joyous presence of his living grandchildren, Daniel Storey, David (Kaitlin) Storey, and Logan (Ashleigh) Abraham, and his great-grandchildren, Emmitt Storey and Renleigh Abraham.

A lifelong member of the Plant City Church of God, M.D.'s faith was the cornerstone of his existence. His commitment to his church was matched only by his passion for the outdoors. An avid hunter, M.D. found solace and excitement in the beauty of nature. Those who knew him will remember the spark of joy in his eyes whenever he shared stories of his adventures in the wild.

M.D. was known for his loving nature, his thoughtful gestures, and his faith-filled spirit. He was the kind of man who would go out of his way to help a friend in need or spend hours at the family table, sharing stories and wisdom. His presence was a source of stability and warmth, and his legacy is one of unwavering kindness and generosity.

As we remember M.D., we are reminded of the words of Robert Sexton, ''Across the years I will walk with you - in deep green forests, on shores of sand and when our time on earth is through, in heaven too, you will have my hand!'' M.D.'s love for his family, his friends, and his community became a part of all who knew him. His influence will continue to be felt through the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.

As we bid farewell to M.D. Fletcher, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. His story does not end here, for he has left an indelible mark on the world, one that will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, M.D.; your legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire us all.
