Mary Keene Obituary
Mary LaVerne Lett Keene, 82, passed away June 13, 2021, at Florida Presbyterian Homes in Lakeland, Florida. Mary was born December 22, 1938 to Fletcher King Lett and Mary Belle Lett in Plant City, Florida. She was the oldest of 3 girls, raised in Springhead, Florida.
In October, at age 13, she met William "Bud" Keith Keene, at the Springhead School Halloween Carnival. After dating four years, they were married on December 1, 1956 and had 57 happy years of marriage before he entered into eternal rest.
Mary's entire life was spent surrounded by farming. She attended Florida State University and University of South Florida, graduating with a bachelor's in education. She was a 26-year veteran of Hillsborough County School District, teaching Accounting at Plant City High School. She was devoted to her students and led Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) while teaching. She worked alongside her husband Bud through all his business ventures, playing a vital role in their successes.
Mary was committed to her family, and she was an inspiration to all who knew her. She valued and loved her husband and family dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, Fletcher K. Lett and Mary Belle Lett and her husband William "Bud" Keith Keene. She will be dearly missed by those who survive her. Two Sisters: Linda Turner (Craig) and Diane Martin (Lawrence). Three sons: Jerry Keith Keene (Lisa), Fletcher Carter Keene (Robin), William Kip Keene (Stephanie). Eight grandchildren: Amy Uzzardo, Amanda Keene, Samantha Howard, Nathan Keene, Jakob Keene, Jonathan Cattery, Tyler Storms, and Chandler Storms. Ten great grandchildren.
A Graveside service will be held Friday June 18,2021 at 10:00am at Springhead Cemetery. Online condolescenes can be made to the family at haught.care.
