Our precious mother, Margie Louise DeShong LeHeup, aged 87 passed away peacefully on 7/25 25 at her home in Plant City surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years James Joseph (Joe) LeHeup, father and mother Claude and Mary DeShong, brothers Alvin and Jimmy, brother-in-law Wayne Lord, and sister-in-law June DeShong. Margie was born in June of 1938 above White's Pharmacy in Plant City, Fl. and was a member of the last graduating class of Plant City High School located in the historic 1914 building.
Joe and Margie met when they worked at the 7-11 in Temple Terrace, Fl. So twice a day the family will "Thank heaven for 7-11". Margie went on to work as a bookkeeper for the school district of Hillsborough County. After 14 years, she retired from Tomlin Middle School to help care for her mother Mary and to volunteer at South Florida Baptist Hospital. Margie and Joe were lifelong members of the Primitive Baptist Association and were blessed to have built a life founded on love, faith, and family.
Her memory lives on through her beloved children Debra (Jack) Harris, Diana Metzger, Jim (Regina) LeHeup, her grandchildren Diana (Caleb) Johnson, Chris Harris, Jessica (Kevin) Dolan, Daniel (Claudia) LeHeup, Jacob LeHeup, her great grandchildren Jack and Evelyn Johnson, Sophia, Emilia, and Elena LeHeup, her cherished sisters Alice Faye Lord, Sue Ann (Jerry) Brock, sister-n-law Ellen LeHeup Portervint, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
We will always carry your memory in our hearts. Praise Jesus you are home.
In lieu of flowers please make a memorial contribution to Life Path Hospice or the church of your choice.
The viewing will be held at Mt. Enon Primative Baptist Church in Plant City, Florida. The visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the service immediatly following.
Luncheon will follow in the dining hall, all are welcome.
