Mae Barron Obituary

Mae LaVerne Yancey Barron died April 14. 2018.

She was born November 11, 1925, in Plant City, Florida to the late Willie B Yancey and Lila Mae Matthews Yancey, lifelong residents of Plant City.

Those gone before LaVerne are her husband, Calvin Barron; daughter, Brenda D. Barron; two sisters; Katherine Ward and Grace Sauls along with a brother, W. B. Yancey, and grandson, Matthew T. Lanier.

She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Watts of Live Oak, Florida; children, Keith R. Barron, of Shirley, Arkansas, Sydney M. Barron (Ouida) of Plant City, Florida, Stephanie Leighton (Dalton) of Plant City, Florida, Sharon Lanier (Jimmy) of Opp, Alabama; grandchildren, Delisa Hooper, Esther Cole, Melody Blanton, Heather Dunn, Marsha McCombs, Kyle Paul, and John Lanier; great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Leighton Hooper, Chelsea Fordham, Drew, Bailey, and Jackson Blanton, Blain Lassister, Alexus Dunn, Mallory McCombs, McKenzie and Matthew Lanier, Bradleigh, Ryan, Maesyn, and Copeland Lanier.

Our mother had an open house to all who wanted to stop by. She loved people. She lived by example of kindness and compassion to all who entered her door. She loved her family and all her grandchildren, many she never met on this earth, but she will one day see in heaven. She loved to cook, fish, sing, and crochet. Most of all she loved to play canasta with anyone who would play. Games of all kinds were played around her table with lots of fun. We are so proud to call her mom because of the integrity she lived before us throughout her life. She was a gracious woman of God. She taught us living a Christian life can be fun, but most of all she showed us how to love and forgive.

Rest in the arms of Jesus mother until we meet again. We can only imagine you singing and dancing on those streets of gold. We’ll love you forever.
