Mabel Nadine Brown

December 4, 1933 ~ August 28, 2023 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Obituary

Mabel Nadine Brown, a blessed child of God and a beacon of love and kindness, was called to her heavenly home on August 28, 2023. Born on December 4, 1933, to D.J. and Maebell Nelson. Mabel was a lady of faith, strength, and profound gentleness. Her earthly journey ended in Knoxville, TN, where she was surrounded by the love of her family and the peace of the Lord.

Mabel was the beloved wife of both Fred Mercer and Jake Brown. She was also the cherished sister of 7 siblings, survived by her little sister Ellene. Having no children of her own, she was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Her family was her joy, her pride, and her sanctuary. Mabel's love for her family was deep and unwavering, as was her faith in the Lord.

Mabel was a woman of simple pleasures. She found joy in the tranquility of fishing, the trivia and suspense of Jeopardy, the spinning excitement of Wheel of Fortune, and the thrill of a good baseball game. These pastimes brought her joy, but nothing compared to her love for the Lord. Mabel was a devoted member of the Deliverance Tabernacle, where you could find her every Sunday in the back row. Her faith was her compass, guiding her through life's storms and leading her to the shores of peace and contentment.

Loving, kind, and faith-filled, Mabel's home was always open to her family, her friends and anyone that needed shelter and warmth. Mabel demonstrated the power of a kind word, a loving gesture, and an unwavering faith. Those whose lives she touched and blessed will all have kind words and stories to tell of her.

Mabel has gone to join her Lord and Savior, but her spirit remains with us. The seeds she planted throughout her life will continue to inspire and guide us. We are comforted by the knowledge that she is now at peace, cradled in the arms of her loving Savior. As we remember Mabel, let us strive to live as she did - with love, kindness, and unwavering faith.

In the words of the apostle Paul, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21). Mabel Nadine Brown lived for Christ, and now, she has gained her heavenly reward. Let us celebrate both the life she lived, and that her suffering on earth has turned to peace beside her Father.
