Lowell Thomas Shamblin, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, just days before his 90th birthday.
Born on May 10, 1936, to Ezra Onie Shamblin and Lara Myrtle Sovine, Lowell lived a long and meaningful life grounded in faith, family, hard work, and quiet strength.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958 as an airman with the 6313th Operations Squadron (PACAF), stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He retired on an aircraft engineer, he worked for Piper Aircraft, and Pratt Whitney. He was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Plant City, was a pastor with Fellsmere Baptist Church and Six Mile Baptist Church in Seffner.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elizabeth Ann Shamblin, who passed away on February 17, 1999; and all of his siblings: Onnie Junior Shamblin, Elizabeth Lucille Knechtel, Mary Ann Shamblin, Martha Frances White, Billy Robert Shamblin, and James David Shamblin.
Elizabeth Ann was the loving mother of his children: Thomas Wade Shamblin, Steven Lowell Shamblin, Pamela Annette Vande Weghe, and Phillip Wesley Shamblin.
On April 10, 2000, Lowell married Paula F. Shamblin, and together they shared 26 wonderful years filled with companionship, devotion, and love.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Wade Shamblin, Steven Lowell Shamblin, Pamela Annette Vande Weghe, and Phillip Wesley Shamblin; his stepchildren, Linda Bernice Walker and Jonathan Wendell Hendricks; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were part of the legacy he built throughout his life. He is also survived by his beloved wife, Paula F. Shamblin.
Lowell's legacy is one of dedication to God, family, steadfast service, and a life well lived. Though he will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing this is not a final goodbye, but only a temporary parting until we are together again.
