Lowell Wallace Shaw, a cherished soul whose life journey began on February 1, 1931, in Lake Wales, Florida, concluded his earthly chapter on August 11, 2025, in Plant City, Florida. He was the beloved son of the late Carl C. Shaw and Rosalee Wallace. His life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and dedication to family and community.
Lowell's early years were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, and this foundation of love was only strengthened when he met and married his late wife, Nita Shaw. Together, they built a life rich in laughter and mutual respect, a legacy carried on by their children Deborah (Michael) Loomis, Sheri (Stephen) Ruland, Steven Shaw, and Coni (David). Lowell was a proud brother to Ethelyn, Helen, and Hugh Daniel Shaw, and a doting grandfather and great-grandfather to eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
An avid learner, Lowell pursued higher education with a passion that led him to earn a master's degree from Southeastern University. His intellectual curiosity was matched by his deep spiritual commitment, which he expressed through his vocation as a Methodist minister. His ministry was not confined to the walls of the church; it was evident in every interaction and every act of service.
Lowell's professional life was diverse and impactful. He was not only a minister but also a skilled carpenter and a dedicated employee for the City of Plant City. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his contributions to the community were both tangible and lasting.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Lowell had a rich tapestry of interests that painted the picture of a man who loved life and all its wonders. He found solace in the simplicity of yard work and the majesty of the night sky. His sense of humor was infectious, and his ability to find joy in the everyday made him a beacon of light for those around him.
Music was one of Lowell's greatest passions, and his voice found a home in the harmonies of the Plant City Choral. His love for music was a thread that connected him to others and brought beauty to countless moments.
To describe Lowell as loving and kind is to capture the essence of a man whose heart knew no bounds. He approached life with a gentle strength and a compassionate spirit that left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
Lowell Wallace Shaw's life was a symphony of love, service, and joy. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide us. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories we share and the lives we lead, honoring his example of kindness and love.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27th from 11:00 A.M to 12:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church, 303 N. Evers Street, Plant City, with a visitation to follow.
