Kenneth G. Leab Sr., a cherished patriarch, and a beacon of hard work and dedication, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2024 in Thonotosassa, Florida. Born on September 20, 1941 in Bristol, Tennessee, Kenneth's journey through life was marked by a steadfast commitment to his family, his work, and his country.
Kenneth's life was one of service and loyalty. He was a proud member of the U.A. Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union 123, a respected brother of the Masonic Lodge and a member of First Thonotosassa Missionary Baptist Church for over 15 years. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he instilled the values of diligence and integrity in all aspects of his life. A true family man, Kenneth was predeceased by his beloved wife Eloise of fifty-one years, his parents, John Ombie and Willie Mae Leab, his sisters, Dorothy Bennett, Earleen Maxwell Evans, Juanita Leab, and Gracie Leab, and his brothers, William Allen Leab, John Leab, and Jack Leab.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through his children, Kenneth G. (Tonya) Leab Jr., Missy (Tony) Harvey, and Karen Leab. His brother, Thomas (Heidi) Leab, also survives him, along with seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his guidance and support.
Kenneth's interests reflected his character. A passionate angler, he found solace and joy in fishing for bluegill, speck, and catfish. His patriotism shone brightly, and his love for his country was evident to all who knew him. Kenneth and his wife Ellie were deeply involved in their children's lives, serving as officers and coaches at Antioch's Little League football, cheerleading, baseball, and softball teams. His enthusiasm for sports extended to being an ardent fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As a man who understood the importance of being present, Kenneth's involvement in his children's activities was a testament to his belief in the value of family. "The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother," a quote famously attributed to Theodore Hesburgh, mirrors the example Kenneth set through his loving partnership and parental dedication.
Kenneth G. Leab Sr.'s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, hard work, and commitment to one's principles. As we bid farewell to a man of great strength and tenderness, we take solace in the knowledge that his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. May we honor his memory by living up to the values he championed and by cherishing the moments we spend with our loved ones, just as he so dearly cherished his.
