Kathy Hicks Obituary

Kathy Hicks, known for her vibrant humor and spirited nature, has left a legacy of laughter and joy in the hearts of all who knew her. She passed away peacefully, leaving behind a world that was infinitely brighter for her presence. She was born on June 11, 1935, in Macon, Georgia, and passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, in Plant City, Florida. Kathy's life journey of 89 years was a testament to her compassionate spirit and enduring devotion to her family and community.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Stuart Hicks, a bond of matrimony blessed with resilience and joy. Their union brought forth a nurturing family, including children Stuart (Marsha) Hicks Jr., Steve (Eydie) Hicks, Teresa (Tony) Azorin, Randy (Lori) Hicks, Debbie (Tim) Ducote, Pat Hicks, and Missy (Adam) Dworakowski. Her legacy extends to her cherished 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, whose lives she touched with her gentle wisdom.

Remembered by her family as a woman of great faith, Kathy was an active member and at one time the organist of St. Clement Catholic Church. She carried this faith through all her days, instilling love and kindness in all she did. Kathy's passion for life was reflected in her varied interests. She stood as a proud member of the 1953 Strawberry Festival Queen's Court, showcasing her community pride and spirit.

Kathy was an incredibly strong woman, which was proven when she beat cancer not just once but twice. An advocate for health and well-being, Kathy contributed her energy to the Plant City Relay for Life as a team captain, inspiring hope and courage in countless lives. The mountains called to her spirit, and she enjoyed traveling to the Smoky Mountains on cherished getaways. Her love for literature provided her and her loved ones with endless conversations and shared imaginings, while the joy of watching her children and grandchildren compete in sports filled her with pride.

In the words of Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched—they must be felt with the heart." Kathy embodied this sentiment, imparting beauty and love felt by all. Her memory will forever resonate with the essence of her loving, gentle, and faith-filled soul.

She lived a life full of laughter and adventure, always the first to crack a joke or lighten the mood. Kathy's infectious spirit lifted the spirits of everyone around her. Her quick wit and kind heart will be remembered by friends and family as the essence of who she was. Kathy was a strong, strong woman, and made instant friends wherever she went, everyone loved her.
