Joyce Marie Stalvey, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully of natural causes on March 26, 2024, in Plant City, FL. Born on June 3, 1954, in Tampa, FL, Joyce dedicated her life to her family and her church, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Joyce's devotion to her family was the essence of her being. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ronnie Stalvey; and her sisters Helen Marra and Nancy Nichols, but is survived by a family that adored her: her son, J.R. (Victoria) Stalvey; daughters Sandra (Robert) Harner and Debra (Vincent) Moore; her son William Harper; sister Tricia Cobb; brothers Daniel and Robert Scott; and ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Each of them will hold dear the memory of her gentle guidance and unconditional love.
A woman of faith, Joyce was a long-time member of Hebron Primitive Baptist Church and attended Mt. Enon Primitive Baptist Church. Her spiritual life was a cornerstone of her existence, providing her with strength and a community of fellowship that she deeply valued.
Joyce's life was characterized by the simple yet profound joy she found in caring for her home and family. Her hands were rarely still, as she delighted in sewing, crocheting, coloring, and cooking - each dish and craft a testament to her generous spirit. As someone who was wonderfully adept at these arts, her creations were not just items of beauty but also symbols of her dedication to her loved ones.
Always quick to welcome others into her heart and home, Joyce was known to many as a second mother, embodying the saying, "It's not what we have in life, but who we have in our life that matters," a sentiment often echoed by the famed author J.K. Rowling. This quote reflects the essence of Joyce's approach to life, as she cultivated relationships with generosity and an open heart.
Described by those who knew her as loving, generous, and gentle, Joyce's warm presence was a light in the lives of those around her. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond the confines of her immediate family, touching the hearts of everyone she met.
Joyce's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of compassion and selflessness. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will carry forward the values she instilled in them, and her siblings will remember her as a source of unwavering support and kindness.
As we bid farewell to Joyce Marie Stalvey, we celebrate a life extraordinarily lived through ordinary, daily acts of love. Her legacy will continue to blossom in the lives of those she has left behind, just as a garden continues to bloom even after the gardener has laid down her tools. Joyce's memory will remain in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
