Dr. Joseph LaRue Richter M.D., age 78, of Plant City, FL passed away on January 1, 2021. LaRue was born in Plant City the son of the late Joseph Franklin and Phyllis Parker Richter, he was also preceded in death by his first wife Lillian Procchi Richter. grandson Christian Jeffcoat, and sister, Esther Glover. Survivors include wife: Peggy Richter, and a blended family. Children: Joe (Robin) Richter, Mark (Kelly) Richter, Alan (Jessica) Richter, Chris (Nicole) Jeffcoat, Leslie Jeffcoat, and Adriana Fasano, grandchildren: Makayla, Savannah, Lillie, and Mia. Great grandchildren, Delaney and Arya. LaRue attended the University of FL where he graduated in 1965 with a Pharmacy degree. He and the family left for Spain in 1974 for LaRue to attend the University of Sevilla Medical School. After clinical training in Baltimore, MD where he was appointed Chief Resident, the family returned to Plant City in 1986. Dr. Richter served the community as a physician for 34 years. He was a member of the Plant City Elks lodge, and The Friends of Christmas. He was an avid hunter and saltwater fisherman. LaRue enjoyed SCUBA diving and was a private pilot. He also enjoyed tinkering with all things mechanical including classic cars. He had been an auxiliary Sheriff’s Deputy in Hillsborough County. Services will be held privately.
