Joan Elaine Hamilton, went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2025, at the age of 95, of Plant City, Florida. She was the widow of her beloved husband George Maurice Hamilton, whom she was married to for 40 years. Born on November 4, 1929, in the Bronx, New York, Joan's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with the joys of art, family, and service to her community.
Joan's early years in New York set the stage for a life characterized by her friendly nature and loving spirit. She carried these traits with her as she moved through life, touching the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Though she faced the sorrow of losing her dear child Howard Caywood, her strength and warmth never wavered. She is survived by her son, Arthur Hamilton, loving daughters, Connie Caywood Landers, Julie Blakeley, and Donna Weatherholt, her eight cherished grandchildren, and six adoring great-grandchildren, who will continue to honor her legacy through their own lives.
The loss of her siblings, Patricia Peterson, and Chester Monplaisir, was felt deeply by Joan, yet she remained a pillar of strength for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester, and Erica Monplaisir, who instilled in her the values of kindness and generosity that defined her.
Joan was a woman of many talents, with a particular passion for painting. Her artistic contributions to the Lakeland Art Guild were a testament to her skill and her desire to bring beauty into the world. Joan's creative spirit shone brightest when she transformed into Bubbles the Clown, a role she embraced wholeheartedly as she painted the faces of countless children at the Springhead Baptist Church festival. Her dedication to the church and its community was unwavering, and her involvement left an indelible mark on all those she served.
As we bid goodbye to Joan, we reflect on the joy she brought to our lives and the lessons she taught us through her example. She will be deeply missed, yet we take comfort in the knowledge that her legacy endures. Joan Elaine Hamilton's story is one of a life beautifully lived and a woman dearly loved. Her memory will be a treasure held close, now, and always.
A graveside service will take place at 11:00 am on March 14th, 2025, at Springhead Cemetery.
Pastor Chuck Edmondson will officiate the ceremony.
