Jane Ward Poppell

Jane Ward Poppell, age 78, of Plant City, FL passed away on August 26, 2022.

A native of Plant City, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Sarah Ward. She is also preceded in death by her brother; Rick (Kathy) Ward.

Survivors include daughters; Shannon (Roger) Mitchell and Kendall (Michael) Weinberg, sister; Lynda (Roland) Creech, granddaughters; Carson and Kellan Mitchell.

Jane was a teacher at Springhead Elementary School. She was a Coordinator for the Community Health Services at South Florida Baptist Hospital. She loved flowers and gardening.

Jane was loving daughter,mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was a dedicated educator for over 35 years beginning her career first as a classroom aid at Jackson Elementary. Jane then began teaching at Springhead Elementary as a first grade teacher, and later in an ESOL Resource leadership role. Jane served the children and families of the Springhead Community with respect, creativity, and compassion. She routinely went the extra mile for students and fellow teachers alike as she was an example of fortitude and courage.

We are grateful for her legacy which will inspire many to give generously, love fiercely, fight courageously, and always maintain a wicked sense of humor.

Services will be held privately.

If so desired in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Little Paws Animal Rescue and Sanctuary or the Plant City Public Library.
