James Joseph LaVoie

James Joseph LaVoie, age 79, of Plant City, Florida, passed away on June 26, 2026. He was born on January 2, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts, and lived a life marked by love, generosity, and friendship. He was a devoted son, father, brother, grandfather, and friend whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to those who knew him.

James was the son of the late Joseph Roland LaVoie and the late Marion Corraine. He grew up with the values of hard work, loyalty, and family that remained with him throughout his life. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Joseph LaVoie and Linda LaVoie Benedetti. He is survived by his brother, Kenneth LaVoie, who will carry forward many cherished memories of their shared life.

James honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, an experience that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. His service was one of the many ways he demonstrated the strength of character that defined him. Those who knew him understood that he approached life with quiet determination, a kind heart, and a steady willingness to help others.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Adrienne LaVoie Sharar and her husband Alen, Allison LaVoie Anderson and her husband Patrick, Josh LaVoie and his partner Amanda Turpin, Damien Cane and his wife Casie, Angela LaVoie and her partner Mason Schalkham, Abigail LaVoie, and James LaVoie. He was a proud father who cherished his family deeply and took great pride in each of his children. His love for them was evident in the way he supported them, encouraged them, and remained a constant source of care throughout their lives.

James was also a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, each of whom brought him great joy. He treasured time spent with his family and found happiness in the simple moments that became lasting memories. His loved ones will remember his gentle spirit, his warm smile, and the sincere interest he showed in the lives of those around him.

He had many interests that reflected his lively and easygoing nature. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed the challenge and calm of the game. He loved singing karaoke and had a lifelong appreciation for baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox, a team that held a special place in his heart. He also enjoyed paint by numbers and fishing, pastimes that gave him peace and pleasure. These hobbies were part of the rhythm of his life and brought him enjoyment in both quiet moments and shared experiences.

James will be remembered as a loving man who gave generously of himself and treated others with kindness. He was friendly and approachable, and he had a way of making people feel welcome. His life was a testament to the importance of family, service, and simple joys. He leaves behind a legacy of affection and strength that will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
