Jacob "Jake" Flanders
November 7, 1984 - April 5, 2025
Jacob Kyle "Jake" Flanders, 40, of Syracuse passed away unexpectedly on April 5th in Tampa, FL. Born in Syracuse, he grew up with a love of music and baseball which he did from Tee-ball through high school. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the International Academy of Design and Technology in Tampa in 2010. He was a self-taught chef starting while in college working at Stonewood Grill & Tavern - leading to becoming an Executive Chef while working at Mirabeau and Redfield's in the Crowne Plaza. He opened the Pork & Knife in Armory Square and later worked at Three Lives. Music and Food were his talents and passions. He won awards at Battle of Bands in Tampa with the band Rubber Soul.
Jacob was predeceased by his older brother Jeremy in 2008, as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents.
He is survived by his daughter Genivee VanValkenburgh of Lakeland, FL; two grandchildren Neera and Jeremy John; his parents John and Kathleen Flanders of Camillus, NY; a brother Aaron (Holly) of Fairmount, NY; a sister Lehana (Leroy) Doctor of Rochester, NY; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 16th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Haught Funeral Home, 708 W. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd, Plant City, FL 33563. Calling hours will also be held on Tuesday, April 22nd from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, 10 Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031.
Burial will be held at later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners, NY.
