Irene A. Dykes, age 79, of Plant City, FL passed away peacefully on July 31st, 2022.
Irene was born in Plant City, FL on May 21st, 1943 and was the daughter of the late James and Ola B. West. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Evan M. Dykes; siblings, Dorothy Paul, Betty Miley, Roy West, and Jimmy West.
Survivors include two sons, Tony Yamnitz and Chris Yamnitz; brother and sisters, Roscoe West, Pauline Mount, Janette Waldon, Maxine Weaver, and Barbara McLellan; granddaughters, Courtney Gardella and Sarah Harmon.
Irene was a homemaker, devoted mother, and wife. Irene moved to several cities while following Evan's career where she fell in love with College Station, Texas. While there, Irene found her talent in managing student housing for Texas A&M. Irene and Evan ultimately moved back to her hometown of Plant City where Irene was an Administrative Manager in the Building Department for The City of Plant City until she retired.
Irene was an avid fan of Country music, the Kentucky Derby, and had a great love for Hummingbirds. She loved spending time with her granddaughters and family. One of ten siblings, Irene and her sisters were the heart of the West family. Irene also enjoyed traveling and her church, Mt. Zion Assembly of God.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday August 6,2022 at 10:00AM, followed by funeral services at 11:00AM, at Haught Funeral Home, 708 West Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Plant City, FL.
