Henry T. "Tom" Tomlinson, born on September 12, 1934, in Adel, GA, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2023, in Plant City, FL. Known for his intelligence, selflessness, and generosity, Tom's presence was a beacon of warmth and wisdom to all who knew him. Tom served his country with honor and distinction for 18 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. Post his military service, he continued to contribute to the community as a Loss Control Engineer with Hatford Steam Boiler Insurance and Inspection and Insurance Co. His work ethic and commitment to service remained unwavering throughout his life. Tom's life was not just about work. He was a man who loved fishing and golf, and cherished his time in the Navy. His love for his grandchildren was boundless, often sharing with them his fascinating stories and life lessons. His family and friends will forever remember him as a man of great strength, generosity, and wisdom. Tom is survived by his children, Debbi (Robert) Lastinger, Joseph H. Simmons, Doug (Gina) Tomlinson, and his siblings, Lynda Tomlinson Bullock, Harry Tomlinson, Elray Tomlinson, William Tomlinson, David Tomlinson, Elwin Tomlinson. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Joanna I. Tomlinson, and his siblings, Barbara Hives and Holly Joe Tomlinson. His cherished grandchildren, Kyra Lastinger, Faith Tomlinson, Kaley Humphreys, Emily Garza, will keep his memory alive. As we remember Tom, we are reminded of a quote by Albert Einstein, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile." Tom embodied this sentiment, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations. His life was a testament to the power of hard work, love, and selfless service. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
