Henry Walker Chason, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024, in Lakeland, Florida, at the age of 85. Born on January 17, 1939, in Madison, Florida, Henry's life was marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a deep love for his community. Henry is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Carol Chason, who has been his steadfast partner in life's journey. Together, they raised a family that includes their children Cathy Jordan, Kim Cotnoir and her husband Armand, and daughter-in-law Denise Chason. His legacy continues through his six adoring grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. Henry was predeceased by his son, Robert E. Chason, whose memory he held close to his heart. After completing his education and earning an Associate's degree, Henry embarked on a distinguished 20-year career in the United States Army, retiring with the honorable rank of Master Sergeant (MSGT). His bravery and commitment to his country were recognized with the awarding of the Bronze Star, a testament to his valor and service. Following his military career, Henry continued to lead and serve in his civilian life, retiring from Wal-Mart as a manager after opening the first store in Plant City. His work ethic and leadership were admired by all who worked with him, and his impact on the community was significant. Beyond his professional achievements, Henry's greatest joy was found in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid supporter of his grandchildren's sporting events, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on from the sidelines. His presence at these games was more than that of a spectator; he was a pillar of encouragement and love. Henry's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of loyalty, love, and laughter. He was a man who cherished each moment with his family, who served his country with honor, and who contributed to his community with passion. His memory will be treasured by all who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. As we bid farewell to Henry Walker Chason, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His journey on earth has ended, but his story will be told for generations to come. Rest in peace, dear Henry. Your legacy endures.
