Hazel Blanton Phelps, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024 in her hometown of Plant City, FL where she was also born on March 9, 1941. She was the daughter of Edward and Dora May Blanton.
Hazel is survived by her loving children, Katherine Ann Phillips (Dale), Joyce Ann Folsom, Lorrie Ann Williams (Rance), Margaret Lyn Thomas (Merdock); twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her sister Karen Stephens Graham (Dave); and many nieces and nephews. Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas (Tom) Phelps; her son, Kenneth (Kenny) Phelps; and her siblings, Linda, Carol, Margaret, Sharon, and Leroy "buck".
Hazel grew up working on the farm for her Daddy at a young age. She was employed with Treasure Isle shrimp plant and Pippin Farms.
Hazel's interests and passions painted a picture of a woman who found happiness of being a homemaker and mother. She loved to cook, especially during the holidays. Everyone came to Thanksgiving and Christmas for her turkey dressing. The grandkids never pass up her chocolate cake or famous "beanie weenies". Many times you would catch her working in her garden. Her favorite was roses and hibiscus. She loved her dogs and cats (they were her babies). She loved classic country music. She had a craving for moon pies, bananas, RC Cola, and sunshine.
Forever in our hearts, she will be loved and missed by all.
We will end this as Hazel would say, "Tired of talkin'". Never bye.
Services will be held privately by the family.
