Born on June 20, 1947 in Sassafras, KY, he moved to Florida at 5 years old and grew up in Orient Park where he made lifetime friends like Terry Alderman, Pete Roberts, Randy Rushing, and Jack Spicer to name a few.
He also played on the softball team of his church, Good Shepard Baptist in Orient Park.
Beginning in 1973 he began building airboats and racing them and won many trophies.
After his airboat accident in 1975, he gave up racing and helped his dad set up Freddies Plastics in Plant City, a wholesale sign manufacturing company which they operated with family for 30 years.
After selling that in 2005 he opened up a retail hunting & fishing store in Plant City which he called Harold's Outdoor Products and enjoyed 5 years with that before he started having memory problems.
He then bought default storage lockers and enjoyed that endeavor for a couple of years.
Harold lived an active and full life. He traveled all over the United States and the Tundra above Canada on hunting trips. He has many trophy mounts to show for it. He and his wife, Helen, also planned their vacations following sign shows held in different parts of the U.S. and Canada.
He was a lifetime member of the NRA. A lifetime member of the Buckmasters Hunting organization, and a perpetual member of the Masonic Lodge 240 of Tampa.
Harold never met a stranger. Even in his last days he would greet strangers in the grocery store or wherever and always asked, "How you doing? They would always answer back and ask him how he was doing and he always said, "I might make it".
He is preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Gladys, his brother Ronnie Mobley and his sister, Carol Boatright.
He leaves behind his wife of almost 50 years, Helen, three step-children; Michael Register, Gene Register, and Diane Pope (Adam); 5 step-grandchildren; Joey Register, Jenna Gendron (Dave), Nick Register, Megan Register and Michael Register, Jr. and 8 step-greats. He is also survived by a brother, David Mobley (Denise) and sister-in-law, Janet Mobley.
