Hansel "Buddy" Griffin Jr. Obituary

Hansel "Buddy" Griffin Jr., a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in Plant City, Florida on September 27, 2023. Born on June 5, 1943, to the late Hansel Griffin Sr. and Lois Thorton, Buddy was a lifelong resident of Plant City, where he was known for his friendly demeanor and thoughtful nature.

Buddy was a successful businessman, owning and operating Blue Ribbon Farms and Tomato Packing. His love for the land was evident in his work, as he thrived as a strawberry farmer from 1979 to 1992. His dedication to his craft was matched only by his dedication to his family and his community. He was a loving family man and a friendly neighbor, always willing to lend a hand or a listening ear.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Buddy had a deep passion for antique cars. He was an avid collector and was often seen at local car shows, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with fellow enthusiasts. He also enjoyed racing cars, a hobby that reflected his adventurous spirit and his love for speed.

Buddy was not just a car enthusiast, but also a music lover. He had an enduring love for Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis, often playing their music at home or in his car. He also loved to hunt and was a dedicated NASCAR enthusiast, his interests painting a picture of a man who embraced life with joy and vigor.

Buddy is survived by his loving wife, Rita Griffin, and his children: Roxanne Griffin Fulwood, Michelle Griffin Greene and her husband Gary, Artis Griffin and his wife Jennifer, and David Griffin and his wife Markeala. He is also survived by his brothers, Andy Walker, Steve Walker, and Wayne Walker. Buddy was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren who will dearly miss their loving grandfather. He was predeceased by his brothers Ray Griffin, Richard Griffin, and Edward Walker.

Buddy's life was a testament to this sentiment, filled with love, laughter, and countless memorable moments. His family and friends will celebrate his life by remembering the joy he brought into their lives and cherishing the time they spent with him.

Hansel "Buddy" Griffin Jr. was a man of many passions, but his greatest love was his family. His dedication to his loved ones, his work, and his community will never be forgotten. His life was a testament to his loving and thoughtful nature, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

If so desired donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital or Lifepath Hospice in Buddys name.
