Gregory Irizarry Obituary

Gregory Irizarry, who was born on December 18, 1934, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, passed away on March 19, 2026, in Plant City, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of service, devotion, and kindness.

He was the son of the late Gregory Irizarry and Juanita Muniz. Gregory lived a life marked by steady commitment to his family, his country, and his community. Those who knew him best will remember him as a loving and kind man whose presence brought comfort and strength to the people around him.

Gregory served his nation honorably in the Army for twelve years, a period of his life that reflected his discipline, courage, and sense of duty. After his military service, he continued to dedicate himself to the well-being of others through a seventeen-year career in law enforcement with Hillsborough County. In both of these roles, he earned the respect of his peers and the gratitude of those whose lives he touched through his work.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edna Mae Hemstreet, with whom he shared a meaningful and cherished life. Their bond remained an important part of his story, and her memory stayed close to his heart throughout his later years. Gregory carried himself with quiet dignity and a deep appreciation for the family and relationships that gave his life purpose.

He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Marsh, Stacey Lindo and her husband Manny, and Sheryl Vitelli and her husband Tim. He also leaves behind his five grandchildren, who brought him joy and pride. His family will remember him for his steady love, his gentle nature, and the example he set through a life lived with integrity and care.

Gregory's life was one of service, devotion, and enduring affection for those he loved. He will be remembered not only for the work he did, but also for the warmth of his spirit and the kindness he extended to others. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Though he has departed this life, the impact of Gregory Irizarry's long and meaningful journey will remain with those who loved him. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and the many ways he enriched their lives.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
