Gladys Morris Obituary

Gladys Helen Morris, a devout Christian of faith and wisdom, ascended into Heaven, 95-years young, on November 24, 2023, at her home in Plant City, Florida. She was born June 23, 1928, in Tampa. Gladys was a cherished Mother, Grandmother, great-Grandmother, great-great Grandmother and dear friend and teacher to many. She is survived by her loving children, Gladys Elaine Hunstein (Ralph), Alice June Cowart (Ron), Deborah Kay Johnson (Dean), Steven William Davis (Joyce), David Lyle Morris (Pamela), and Lois Summerall (Marvin). She was predeceased by her step-children, Alex Morris, Dianne Burgess (Bobby), and Carrie Davis (Kenny). Gladys was a proud and inspirational Grandmother to Shanetel Davis, Gabrielle Hedges (Daniel), Krista Hunstein-Berndt (Ryan), John Abate, Paul Wilson, Tammi Bynum (Danny), Dan Wilson, Jr. (Tabatha), Delia Dean (Jason), Richard Davis (Heather), James Davis (Annie), Kayla Suarez, Angela Stevens (Pete), Christine Morris, Bobby Burgess, Marvin Summerall, Jr., Kevin Summerall, Traci Swinson, Heather Davis, Steven Davis, Kenny Davis, and the doting great-Grandmother of thirty-one great-grandchildren. She was also blessed with eighteen great-great-grandchildren. Gladys was a dedicated employee of GTE Florida (Verizon), where she worked in data entry for many years. Her commitment to her work was only surpassed by her unwavering devotion to her faith. She served as secretary on the Board at Dover Pentecostal Holiness Church and was an active member in many church functions, including teaching the Adult Sunday School class and weekly adult Bible Study classes. She began teaching Sunday School to children at the tender age of sixteen. She also held the position of Women's Ministries Secretary with grace and dedication. Gladys was a spiritual guide to so many. A passionate pianist, Gladys brought joy weekly to the congregants with her music. Her love for music was only surpassed by her love for the Bible, which she studied diligently throughout her life. Her commitment to her faith was unwavering and she inspired many with her wisdom and loving nature. Gladys was best described as faith-filled, loving, and wise. Her radiant warmth and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew her. Gladys Helen Morris leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and wisdom. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable life.



A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday November 28,2023 at 1:00pm at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
