Georgianna Jean Rush, a beacon of kindness and love, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, in Plant City, Florida, at the age of 76. Born on October 29, 1948, in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, she was a cherished daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Predeceased by her parents, George Eugene Kenny and Mary Ann Smith, and her beloved daughter, Melissa Contouris, Georgianna's legacy of love continues through her devoted husband, Vernon Rush, whom she married in November 1967. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their shared values and commitment to family. She is also lovingly remembered by her children, Dawn (David) Anderson and Vernon Eugene Rush, and her adored grandchildren, Paige Blake, Kyle (Hailey) Anderson, Cory Anderson, Charissa (Russell) Young, Charlotte Contouris, Charinne Contouris, and Daphne Contouris.
Georgianna's professional life was marked by her compassionate spirit and dedication to helping others. She worked as a nurse's aide, where she provided comfort and care to those in need. Her pioneering spirit shone brightly when she became the first female captain of the Point Boro First Aid in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, a role in which she served with distinction and set a precedent for future generations of women in the field.
Beyond her professional achievements, Georgianna was known for her creative talents and her love for crochet, sewing and crafting beautiful pieces that became treasured keepsakes for her family and friends. She had a lifelong love of all things Disney. Her home was filled with warmth, not only from her handiwork but also from the presence of her cherished cat, Minnie, who was a constant companion and source of joy.
Those who knew Georgianna will remember her love and kindness. She approached life with a gentle heart and a generous spirit, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her smile could light up a room, and her laughter was infectious. She was a pillar of strength for her family, offering unwavering support and wisdom that will continue to guide them.
