George E. Yates Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, and respected businessman, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2023, in Dover, Florida, at the age of 72. Born on March 28, 1951, in Ft. Lauderdale, George was a man of many passions, known for his loving, thoughtful, and kind nature.
George was the proud son of the late George Yates Sr. and Betty Allen. He was the cherished brother of the late Terry Brown and Robert Yates, and the devoted husband of the late Leslie Berg Yates. He leaves behind his loving son, Michael Yates, and his treasured daughter, Shannon Yates. His grandchildren, Madison, Kaitlyn, and Mathew Yates, held a special place in his heart and brought him immense joy.
He was the proud owner of Yates Produce Company, where his dedication and hard work earned him a prestigious broker award. George was more than just a businessman; he was a farmer at heart. His love for the land and the fruits of his labor were evident in the quality produce his company delivered.
George was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi in Jefferson, North Carolina, and St. Coleman's in Ft. Lauderdale. His faith was a guiding force in his life, providing him with strength and comfort throughout his journey.
Outside his professional life, George had an affinity for working on cars, with a particular fondness for Corvettes. His collection was a testament to his hard work and success, but more importantly, it was a manifestation of his passion. He loved to share this interest with his son, Michael, and their time spent working on projects together were some of his most cherished moments.
Above all, George loved spending time with his family. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye, and he took every opportunity to be involved in their lives. He was a loving father and grandfather, always supportive and encouraging. His daughter, Shannon, was his pride and joy, and their bond was a true testament to his nurturing spirit.
As Albert Einstein once said, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile," and George E. Yates Jr. certainly lived a life for others. His love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his passion for his hobbies painted a picture of a man who lived his life to the fullest. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
George E. Yates Jr. will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. His life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and dedication, and his legacy will continue to be a beacon of hope for many generations to come.
Services will be held at a later date in North Carolina.
