Geneva Pitts

Geneva Young Pitts, age 95, of Perry, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026. She was born on December 28, 1930, in Plant City, Florida, and lived a long life marked by love, faith, devotion to family, and quiet strength.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas Denver and Leoma Young. Geneva was a loving and kind woman whose gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. She carried herself with grace and warmth, and her life reflected the values she held dear throughout the years. Her family and friends will remember her for the steady love she gave, the kindness she showed, and the comfort of her presence.

Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Pitts, her son, J.L. Pitts Jr., her grandson, Michael Pitts, and eight of her siblings. Though she experienced many losses in her lifetime, she remained a source of strength and encouragement to those around her. Her faith and devotion to her family helped guide her through life's joys and sorrows, and she leaves behind a legacy of perseverance and love.

She is survived by her children, Nancy (Learon) Sanderfur, Daniel (Diana) Pitts, Janet Maynard, and Wayne (Sandra) Pitts. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her love and influence. Geneva treasured her family deeply, and her children and grandchildren were among the greatest joys of her life. Her legacy will continue through the generations who carry her memory forward with love and gratitude.

Geneva was a retired Hillsborough County school bus driver, and she took pride in her work and in the many years she spent serving her community. She was known for her dependable nature and her caring heart, qualities that made her a trusted and respected presence in the lives of the children and families she served. Her work reflected the same kindness and dedication that she brought to every part of her life.

She was also a faithful member of Sharon Baptist Purity Church, where she found fellowship, strength, and spiritual comfort. Her church family was an important part of her life, and she valued the bonds of faith and friendship she shared there. Geneva cherished her family above all else, and she will be remembered as a woman who loved deeply, gave generously, and lived with a heart full of kindness.

Those who knew Geneva will remember her as loving and kind, a woman whose life was a blessing to many. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave and the example she set will remain a lasting part of her family's story.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sharon Baptist Purity Church, 3506 Young Road Plant City, FL 33565.
