Gary Curtis Bass Obituary

Gary Curtis Bass, a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024, in Albany, Georgia, at the age of 69. Born on April 11, 1955, in Plant City, Florida, Gary's life was a testament to the values of love, kindness, and friendship that he held dear.

Gary's journey began as the beloved son of Curtis Bass and Annie Bass, who predeceased him. His early years in Plant City were filled with the joys of Southern living, where he developed a lifelong passion for the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were not just hobbies for Gary; they were a way for him to connect with nature and the simple pleasures of life.

He was the loving husband of Brenda Bass, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. Together, they navigated the waters of life, celebrating triumphs and facing challenges with unwavering support for one another. Gary's legacy continues through his children, Chris (John) Carlson, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Bass, Stephen Bass, and Jimmy Hall. He instilled in them the values of compassion and integrity, and his guidance will forever be a compass for their lives.

Gary was also a devoted brother to Carole Carter and Robyn (Terry) Peters. His role as a sibling was marked by laughter, shared memories, and an unbreakable bond that only siblings can understand. His eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild brought immense joy to his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Known for his loving nature, Gary was the kind of person who never met a stranger. His kindness was as natural as breathing, and his friendly demeanor made him a beloved figure in his community. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity that will continue to inspire those who knew him.

As we remember Gary, we are reminded of the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Gary's life was indeed a success by all measures.

Gary is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all of whom felt the touch of his loving spirit. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
