Fred E. Palmer, Sr. was born February 28, 1941, in Piedmont (Rabbittown), Alabama, and lived until December 2, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents, David Robert Palmer and Eppie Eleanor Burns Palmer; his daughter, Tami Palmer Asbury; and his brother, William Frank Palmer. He is survived by JoAnn Smith Palmer, his wife of 60 years; his son, Fred E. (Porky) Palmer, Jr. (Della); his grandchildren, Deryl E. Sweeney, Jr. (Mattie), David E. Coy, Michael
W. Sweeney (Katrina), Andy L. Avery, Jr. (Samantha), and Amanda D. Avery (Danielle); his step-grandchildren, Stefanie Roberson and Elizabeth Doster; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Fred was a Christian and served as deacon and in many other positions in his churches for many years at Eastside and Shiloh Baptist Church. He was also a veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy where he retired as a recruiter. He was active for many years in service to the community, the Dolphin Little League Football Team, the Plant City Civitan Club, the Tampa Naval Sea Cadet Corps, and the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary.
Fred loved people from the youngest to the oldest. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Fred's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and all those at the James A. Haley Veteran's Hospital for their help and support caring for him.

Visiting hours will be at Haught Funeral Home, in Plant City, Florida, on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM.
