Floyd Lemar Miller, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024, at the age of 93, in Dover, Florida. Born on November 12, 1930, in Cobbtown, Georgia, Floyd's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and friendship.
Floyd was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Dorothy Lavern Watson Miller, who was his lifelong companion and best friend. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Melba Wood and Garyon Roy. His legacy continues through his devoted daughter, Donna Lynn Rogers, and his son, Don "Donny" Miller (Dottie), who will forever cherish his memory. Floyd's grandchildren, Seth Adam Rogers, Sarah Lynn (Rickie) Paulk, Hannah Elease Rogers, Jacob David Miller, and Jod Lemar Miller, were the light of his life, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments. His great-grandchildren, Jesse James Paulk, Asher Ray Paulk, and Sawyer Adam Paulk, brought him immeasurable joy in his later years.
Floyd honorably served his country in the Air Force, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of duty and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. After his military service, he dedicated many years as a millwright with Local 1000, where his hard work, expertise, and friendly demeanor were well-respected by his colleagues and peers.
Those who knew Floyd would describe him as loving, friendly, and kind. He had the rare ability to light up a room with his presence and make everyone feel at ease. His warm smile and generous spirit were a comfort to all who had the pleasure of crossing his path.
Floyd's life was guided by the principle that "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give," a sentiment famously expressed by Winston Churchill. This quote perfectly encapsulates Floyd's approach to life, as he was always ready to lend a helping hand and offer support to those in need.
As we bid farewell to Floyd Lemar Miller, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, friendship, and kindness. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as his presence enriched the lives of those around him. Floyd's story is not one of sorrow, but a beautiful narrative of a life that was full of purpose and joy, touching the hearts of many and leaving a lasting impact that will be treasured for generations to come.
