Exie Pauline Neal Harris, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at the age of 96 in Dover, Florida. Born on November 8, 1929, in Alpine, Tennessee, she was the cherished daughter of the late Albert S. Neal and Bertha Smith. Exie's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the simple joys of nurturing both family and gardens.
Exie's journey through life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ernest Lee Harris, and her siblings, Rowe Neal, Gladda Amonett, Dean Gibbons, and Ruell Neal. Her legacy continues through her loving children, Pam Harris, Pat (Ray) Culver, Jack (Debra) Harris, Barbara (Cole) Scudder, JoAnn Harris, and Mary (Steve) Durrett and her brother Roy Neal. Exie was a proud grandmother to Sundi Marino, Julie Curry, Amy Culver, Danny Culver, Christopher Harris, Diana Johnson, and Meagan Scudder. Her great-grandchildren, Savannah Curry, Max Curry, Starling Marino, Jack Johnson, and Evelyn Johnson, brought her immeasurable joy and were the light of her later years.
A woman of the earth, Exie found solace and pleasure in the art of gardening. Her hands, ever so gentle and nurturing, coaxed life from the soil, cultivating not just plants but the beauty and tranquility that her garden provided to all who entered. The same hands that tended to her roses with such care were the ones that held her grandchildren close, teaching them the value of growth, patience, and the beauty of life's cycles.
Exie's life was a living example of the words 'loving' and 'kind.' She approached every person with an open heart and a warm smile, embodying these virtues in every aspect of her life. Her kindness was not just an act but a deeply ingrained part of who she was. It was this kindness that drew people to her, and it is this kindness that will be her lasting imprint on the world.
As we bid farewell to Exie Pauline Neal Harris, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a heart generously shared. Her spirit, a nurturing force, will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who knew her, just as her flowers will continue to bloom in the gardens she so lovingly tended. Exie's memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories passed down within her family, the laughter shared among friends, and the gentle touch of the breeze in the garden she once cared for.
In her passing, Exie leaves behind a world more beautiful for her presence, a family stronger for her guidance, and a legacy of love that will continue to grow for generations to come. Though she will be deeply missed, the seeds of kindness she planted in the lives of those she touched will continue to flourish, ensuring that her memory will endure.
