Evelyn Marie Holmes

Evelyn Marie Holmes, a virtuous woman of grace, born under God in Alabama on December 19, 1937, completed her earthly journey in Plant City on September 12, 2023. She danced through life with a spirit of love, generosity, and kindness, blessing those in her path.

She was the deep root and blossom of the family tree, holding firm to her beloved husband of over 30 years, Robert Holmes, adoring mother to Maxine Smith, Robert Smith and his wife Toni, Clara Street and her husband William. She has now joined her precious children Betty May Knight, and Diane Stanton. She sparkled as a star amongst her surviving siblings, Larry Staggs, and Brenda Craft, now united in glory with Betty Staggs, Bobby Staggs, Buford Staggs, Billy Staggs, Jimmy Staggs, Margaret Douglas and Francis Wilson. She cradles in eternity her dear grandchild, Christopher D. Watson.

Evelyn lavished love upon her garden, casting a tender eye upon every bursting bloom. In the sparkling lakes, she found her peace, fishing line in hand, gratitude in heart. A house scrubbed by Evelyn shone with warmth and love, just as her faith in the Lord illuminated her soul. Evelyn embodied the essence of Corinthians 13:13, as the good book tells us, "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." Preach.

Wise and loving, Evelyn has left us richer in spirit for having known her, and she will continue to guide us from her heavenly home.

Friends and family will be received Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Haught Funeral Home, 708 W. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd Plant City, FL 33563.
A funeral service will be held Monday, September 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Haught Funeral Home in Plant City, FL. Burial will follow.
