Elton Lee Portervint Jr. "Lee", a beacon of kindness and love, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, in Temple Terrace, Florida, at the age of 80. Born on December 28, 1943, in Tampa, Florida, Lee was a man whose life was as rich and fulfilling as the many relationships he nurtured throughout his years.
Lee was the beloved husband of his devoted wife for 62 remarkable years. Together, they built a family founded on love, faith, and joy. He was a proud father to Elton Lee Portervint III and Mary Ann Paganella, married to Stephen. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Meagan and Ethan Portervint as well as Nicholas, Anthony, and Lauren Paganella, who will carry forward his spirit of generosity and compassion.
Predeceased by his parents, Del and Elton Portervint Sr., and his sister, Ruby Delores McKay, Lee's memory will be honored and celebrated by all who knew him. His presence was a gift to his family, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Lee dedicated 25 years of his life to Publix, where he retired as the respected manager of the meat department. His work ethic, leadership, and genuine care for both his colleagues and customers earned him admiration and respect within the community.
A man of deep Christian faith, Lee lived his beliefs through his actions, serving as a shining example of what it means to be a servant to all. His love for the outdoors was evident to anyone who shared in his adventures. Whether fishing or simply enjoying the tranquility of the beach, Lee found joy and peace in nature's beauty.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Lee would describe him as loving and kind, words that only begin to capture the essence of a man whose heart was as open and warm as the Florida sun he so enjoyed. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life, to listen, and to offer a helping hand, defined his character.
As we bid farewell to Elton Lee Portervint, we are reminded of the impact one life can have on so many. His was a life well-lived, full of moments that will be treasured by his family and friends. Lee's story does not end with his passing but continues in the lives of those he touched, in the love he shared, and in the memories that will be cherished forever.
In honoring Lee's life, we celebrate a man who was truly a servant to all, a loving husband, a caring father, a doting grandfather, and a friend to many. His spirit will forever be a guiding light to those he leaves behind.
