Donald O. Livezey passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at the age of 89 followed by his beloved wife, Ruth G. Livezey, who passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 88. Together, they shared nearly five decades of marriage and built a life together rooted in love, generosity, and family.
Don was born on September 17, 1936, in Muncie, Indiana, to the late Mendall Livezey and Virginia Underwood. He proudly served in the United States Marines and was a Master Mason. He was a lifelong business owner of service stations and auto repair shops, including D&G Garage in Plant City, FL, Don’s Garage in Jasper, FL, and Valdosta Auto Repair in Valdosta, GA. Raised farming, he carried that passion throughout his life whether it was growing a vegetable garden, riding his John Deere tractor, or tending his many animals.
Ruth was born on November 4, 1937, in Ft. Ogden, Florida to the late Guy Glass and Callie Keene. A woman of strength and determination, she returned to school while raising her two boys and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from University of South Florida. She went on to become a dedicated and gifted educator, teaching elementary, middle and high school, and college level throughout her career. She touched the lives of countless students with her patience, unconditional love, and compassion and was always a “favorite teacher” among her students.
Don and Ruth found joy in gathering family and friends around the table, sharing meals, stories, and laughter. Their home was a place of welcome, warmth, and togetherness, where many lasting memories were made.
Together, Don and Ruth were the parents of George Lee Livezey, Edward J. Livezey, and Matthew Ray (Tina) Livezey. They were preceded in death by their sons, Raymond Clint (Rhonda) Stephens and Peter Jay Stephens. Don was also preceded in death by his brother, Gene Livezey, and is survived by his siblings, Marilyn Cerasulo and John Livezey. Ruth was preceded in death by her sisters, Letha Freed, Sallie Ann Purvis, Lena Rogers; brothers, Bruce Glass and Wayne Glass. She is survived by her siblings, Frank Glass and Dwight Glass.
Don and Ruth are survived by their granddaughters, Shannon (Nicholas) Collins and Baylee. To their granddaughters, they were simply the very best papa and granny — creating a childhood full of memories and a lifetime of unwavering support, love, and laughter.
