David Ethan Coy, formerly known as David Ray Sweeney, left this world on July 5, 2025, at the age of 41. Born on July 19, 1983, in Tampa, Florida, David's life was a testament to the beauty and serenity that nature holds. He passed away in Plant City, Florida.
David was predeceased by his mother, Tami Palmer Asbury, and his grandparents, Fred E. Palmer Sr., Betty Sweeney Garrison and Ray Sweeney. He is survived by his father, Deryl Sweeney Sr.; his grandmother, JoAnn Palmer; his siblings, Deryl (Mattie) Sweeney Jr., Michael (Katrina) Sweeney, Andy (Samantha) Avery Jr., and Amanda (Danielle) Avery. David is also survived by his uncle, Fred Palmer, Jr., who was a mentor to him; his best friend Erica Rogers; and a host of other friends and relatives.
A true herbalist at heart, David's passion for the environment was evident in everything he did. His love for his animals—his dog, cats, chickens, rabbits, and bees—was matched only by his love for plants, birds, butterflies, and all things in nature. David believed in the profound impact that the natural world had on humanity, and he dedicated his life to nurturing it. Although skilled with computers, he found his true calling in the outdoors, tending to his animals, planting new life, and being a grateful recipient of the many miracles that God has to offer.
David's creative spirit shone brightly through his love for playing the piano, singing, writing poetry, and composing songs. His artistic talents were a reflection of his loving and kind nature, and they brought joy to all who had the pleasure of experiencing them. David's legacy will live on in the lush gardens he cultivated, the melodies he created, and the profound impact he had on his family and friends.
As we bid farewell to David, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion. His memory will continue to inspire us to appreciate the beauty of the world around us and to live each day with love and kindness. David's journey on this earth may have ended, but the echoes of his gentle spirit will resonate forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
